The New Folk Sounds From Northern Europe
En 1970, Lee Hazlewood posait ses valises en Suède. Laissant derrière lui la Californie du Sud, le clan Sinatra et une vraie légende de poids lourd de l'industrie du disque américain, Hazlewood avait choisi de tout recommencer en terre scandinave. D'abord venu pour faire l'acteur dans quelques films du cinéaste Torbjörn Axelman, il enregistra également, cette année là, l'excellent Cowboy In Sweden, une pure merveille qui reste non seulement comme l'un de ses meilleurs albums, mais aussi comme un disque phare de ce que l'on appellera ensuite l'"Americana". Trente-cinq ans plus tard, et alors que le mouvement néo-country semble parfois s'essoufler un peu aux Etats-Unis, c'est de Suède ou de Norvège que viennent souvent certains des meilleurs disques du genre. Ainsi, emboîtant le pas d'une poignée de pionniers comme Nicolai Dünger, Christian Kjellvander ou Kristofer Aström, c'est toute une scène à consonance folk qui s'est, ainsi, développée dans l'extrême Nord de l'Europe. Le but de cette compilation est de tenter de refléter au mieux la vitalité de cette scène néo-folk scandinave.
