Two years after the excellent The Death Of Song, New Yorkers White Hassle are back with a third album, Your Language, which exemplifies the group’s Stones-like sound. Recorded partly in Woodstock, at guitarist Chris Maxwell’s place (he’s since been replaced by Joachim Kearns), Your Language offers up a fine collection of rough-hewn rock’n’roll, folk and white rhythm’n’blues pearls which, after the fashion of the splendid "Star Position" and "Neon, Not The Night", once more brilliantly highlight the exceptional quality of Marcellus Hall’s classic songwriting. A particular highpoint of this finely-chiseled roots nugget is the duet between Marcellus and Ambrosia Parsley, the singer of Shivaree, on a playful cover of Irving Berlin’s "You’d Be Surprised".
